Umebara Makoto
Born in Kochi in 1950. Aims to create new values while preserving scenary of Japan by connecting design with agriculture, forestry, and fishery. Develops communication design by acknowledging Kochi prefecture as the richest place in Japan, although it ranks as the 46th prefecture in economic survey. Editor-in-chief of the prefecture’s cultural magazine, “Tosa-no-kaze.”
About the design
August 6th is a special day in Japan. I imagined the day in 1945 from a local perspective.
