About the design
The Council of Trent approved a plan in 1563 to adjust the calendrical errors because the Julian Calendar caused a gap between seasons and date. Pope Gregory XIII decided an average year length to be 365.2425 days. In this way, the Julian calendar ended on 4 October, followed by 15 October as the first day of the Gregorian calendar.
