Born in Iwate in 1948. After working at two design studios, became freelance in 1972 and established Alfa Design in 1977. As art director he works from graphics, advertising, CI, package to promotion of local industry. Winner of the Nihon Shinbun Kyoto NewsPaper Advertising Award, and others. Representative of JAGDA Iwate Chapter.

About the design

Someone had set up October 2 as the Tofu day (10 [tou] and 2 [fu]). Though it is just a pun, my responsibility here would be to promote this great Japanese food. Maybe tofu served cold can be another Cool Japan item. Moreover, my hometown Morioka consumes the biggest amount of tofu per household in Japan. Bittern to firm tofu is taken from the sea, and I remember Saturday has always been printed with blue in calendars. Everyone, eat more tofu!
